However, both property experts and the housing market indices contradict this, indicating that it will most likely be a long time before we see property prices return to the kind of highs we saw before the recession. Some have predicted that it could take until 2017for houses values to return to the peak they hit in 2007. Past recessions also tell us that after a major financial crisis it's typical for housing prices to decline by 35%over a six year period.
