Odds On Ron Results

Nothing in these schools, especially one as spectacular as the one I went to, gets you ready for what real recording studios operate like. The interns would kill Odds On Ron each other over sitting in with a star, and no one gets paid. You are required to clean the floors, counter tops, dust off consoles, and be the errand boy for anyone that is either a client or on payroll.

I have seen a person run twenty blocks in the middle of the night to pick up a burger for someone, to be screamed at that it was from the wrong location. What does this have to do with the education given, and money spent to receive it? If these schools had a class teaching you on what your real job will actually consist of I bet there would be many more drop outs and less cash to pay back after it is all said and done. Most of the individuals getting into these schools have a basic knowledge and understanding of how music equipment works, and that is all that is really required.

It is easy for me to acknowledge that an eight week course on compression, mic setup and sonic foundations can be very helpful. Most of the things you will learn at the studio itself and the best way to get that education is to figure out how to get in the studio. Everything that you will need to know, you can easily pick up from the assistant engineers and later on the engineers themselves. If you offered the same amount of cash to the studio owner as you are paying for the school, I guarantee you that you would start off as the head intern.

Most of the places that I have worked at closed already, and during the last few years most of them rented rooms to teach people how to become engineers as well since the musicians were not coming in. This was starting to compete with the major schools, but I guess was not good enough. If you do decide to get a diploma in recording arts, do understand that your most likely job afterwards will be to work at the school itself.
