Borderline Personality Disorder and Ambivalence Toward Love

Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, which rob us of memory and brain power, become more common as age advances and are very common once the age of eighty is reached. Is there anything we can do to lessen the extent to which these memory problems affect us? Yes, there definitely is I am glad to say.

A Mayo clinic study carried out in 2009 found that people who took part in activities which challenged them mentally, while in their fifties and early sixties, were 40% less likely to develop serious memory loss than those who did not. There are a number of things we can do to help us stay mentally sharp as we get older.

Shut off the TV. Studies have found that those who watch only a minimum amount of TV are 50% less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease. Yes that,s right. Shut off the tube and cut your chance of being an Alzheimer's victim by half.

Develop manual skills. Try a new hobby (or job) which involves skills such as carpentry, sewing, model making, painting, playing a musical instrument etc. This develops new neural connections in your brain as well as improving manual dexterity and strength.
